Week-1 benchmark reset: how B2B wholesalers re-anchor price after the September open

Published: September 3, 2026

The open is done. The August price sheet is not a September contract

Week-1 already started. Opening-Firm that shipped Monday and Tuesday is a fact. What is still sitting as “verbal Firm,” undated Soft, or Open qty priced off last month’s weekly band is not a fact—it is leftover August.

This Thursday is a benchmark reset: re-read Weekly Prices against remaining week-1 / week-2 capacity, kill quotes that have no written extension past September 1, and publish Open that ops can still load. Grade stays A+ / A / B / C per the public Grades standard. Hardware stays 100% functional. Battery health stays ≥85% on listed devices. Do not invent extra tiers to “hold” an old price.

What still needs a reset after week-1 start

LeftoverWhy it is dangerous nowReset action
Quote dated AugustBuyer treats it as live; ops already moved the unitsExpire unless a written extension names qty, grade, and a new date
Open priced off last weeklyInquiry volume looks healthy; close rate diesRe-anchor the band; do not wait for the next full Catalog cycle
Soft with no expirySteals remaining week-2 Opening-FirmConvert with evidence or kill the same day
Firm verbal, no POOccupies a lane that week-1 already proved is tightDemand written Firm by close of Thursday or return qty to Open
Grade held “because the quote said A+”Cosmetic drift from last week’s audit is still liveRelock grade first; then re-price the new band

A price cut does not keep an expired quote alive. A WhatsApp “keep the old number” is not a reset.

Reset order—price after facts, not before

StepFact to lockThen price
1. Qty still shippableRemaining week-1 / week-2 vs ops load sheetDo not quote Open that already left the dock
2. Grade still honestA+ / A / B / C vs last audit / pack-out photosRe-anchor only after the tag is true
3. BenchmarkCurrent weekly band for that model × grade × capacityApply your house rule (e.g. re-price if off band by >5%)
4. Quote stateLive / expired / Firm-evidencedPublish only Live; delete expired from the buyer-facing sheet

Do not reverse the order. Re-pricing a drifted A as if it were still A+ just recreates Monday’s dispute on Friday’s load.

Quote kill table for week-1 leftovers

Quote ageDefaultException that keeps it live
Issued before Sep 1, no written extensionDead at Thursday closeWritten extension: qty, grade, ETA, new expiry ≤7 days
Issued Sep 1–2, still Open termsRe-anchor to this week’s band before confirmBuyer already sent Firm PO matching the quote line-for-line
Soft, expiry blank or pastKill; qty returns to OpenSoft → Firm with evidence today
Firm PO, units already allocatedKeep; do not re-trade the band mid-loadGrade change from audit: written notice, then new band

One owner signs the kill list. Sales does not revive a dead quote in a side chat.

Catalog publish after the reset

Remaining Open must match the ops sheet after kills and re-anchors—not the August Catalog screenshot.

Catalog fieldWeek-1 Thursday rule
Open qtyEquals units still in the bin and not Firm-allocated
Grade tagSame as pack-out; no “hold A+ until photos catch up”
Price / bandTied to current Weekly Prices
ETAWeek-1 remainder vs week-2; do not leave “August window” text

Publish the correction the same day on Catalog. Silent mid-week edits without a reset note teach buyers to ignore the sheet.

Operator rules for a one-day reset

RulePractice
One price ownerWho can change the buyer-facing band; not a group-chat vote
Kill list in writingQuote id / SKU band / old price → expired or re-anchored
Firm evidence onlyPO or signed allocation—not “they said they will send it Friday”
Grade before bandIf last week’s audit moved A+ → A, the old quote dies with the old tag
No soakExpired quotes do not sit “until the buyer notices” over the weekend

Week-1 benchmark reset checklist

StepAction
1Export remaining week-1 / week-2 Open, Soft, and unconfirmed Firm by A+ / A / B / C
2Mark every pre-September quote with no written extension as expired
3Relock any grade that pack-out no longer matches Grades
4Re-anchor live bands vs Weekly Prices
5Publish the same-day Open true-up on Catalog
6Send written notices on Firm lines that changed grade or band; keep ops qty equal to Catalog

Closing

Week-1 already spent the easy capacity. What you still quote must be this week’s band, this week’s grade, and this week’s remaining qty. Run a benchmark reset before the weekend—expired August quotes off the sheet, live Open honest, Firm only with evidence.
